Cross Cluster with Single Crochet Rows 040814

By M. J. Joachim

By combining yesterday’s cross cluster pattern with horizontal rows, you achieve a different look when making cross cluster vertical rows in your pattern. For this pattern you will follow yesterday’s pattern through Step 2, then add a third step.

Foundation: Make a multiple of 8 chain (+4 more chain stitches); single crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across. Chain 3, turn

Step 1: Working over 2 stitches, make a cross cluster stitch:

Skip 1st stitch, yarn over and insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, draw up a loop (two times, so you have 5 loops on your hook); yarn over, draw through all loops on hook

Repeat the cross cluster stitch in the previous stitch you skipped.

Step 2: Make 1 double crochet in each of the next 6 stitches; make 1 cross cluster stitch over the next 2 stitches, until you get to the last 3 stitches; make 1 cross cluster over the next 2 stitches and 1 dc in the last stitch (top of turning chain); chain 3, turn

Step 3: Chain 1, single crochet in 2nd stitch and in each stitch across, including 1 sc in top of turning chain; chain 3, turn

Repeat Steps 1 – 3 for pattern.

  2. Just taking a detour from the A-Z to check out your crochet blog. I need to get serious about this fun past time again and this is a good place to get serious. Cross your fingers, I take this up again.
