Arched Lace Stitch 040814

By M. J. Joachim

I can see this stitch used for a lovely table runner that can easily be made in time for Easter. It would also make a pretty cowl to accent any top or outfit.

Foundation: Make a multiple of 8 chain stitches (+2 more chain stitches)

Step 1: Make 1 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in following chain

Step 2: Chain 5, make 1 single crochet in 6th chain from hook, and in each of the next two chain stitches

[Repeat Step 2 to end of row, ending with only 2 single crochet at end of row]

Step 3: Chain 1, turn; make 1 sc in 1st stitch

Step 4: Chain 3, make 3 double crochet in next chain 5 loop, chain 3; make 1 sc in 2nd chain from hook

[Repeat Step 4 across row, ending with 1 sc in last sc of row]

Step 5: Chain 6, turn; make 1 sc in each of the next 3 dc

Step 6: Chain 5, make 1 sc in each of the next 3 dc to end of row, ending with chain 2 + 1 triple crochet in last sc of row

Step 7: Chain 3, turn; make 1 dc in first chain 2 space

Step 8: Chain 3, make 1 sc in 2nd sc from hook

Step 9: Repeat Step 4 across row, ending with 1 dc in each of 2nd & 3rd chain stitches in last chain 6 loop

Step 10: Chain 1, turn; single crochet in 1st stitch

Step 11: Chain 5, make 1 sc in each of next 3 dc

[Repeat Step 11 to end of row, ending with 1 sc in last dc and 1 sc in top of turning chain]

Repeat Steps 3 - 11 for pattern
