The jasione levis flower is very easy to make, because it uses chain loops to create a pompom and pipe cleaner to create a stem. That said, squeezing so many chain loops into the center can be a bit tricky.
You Will Need
Yarn or doily thread with appropriate size crochet hook
A few white pipe cleaner sticks for stem
Floral tape to wrap stem
Beads (optional for ends of pipe cleaner – I chose not to use them for the one in the photo)
Step 1: Chain 4, single crochet in 4th chain from hook; chain 4, single crochet in same place as many times as possible – just keep squeezing chain 4 loops into 1st space
Step 2: When you’ve squeezed as many as you can, repeat Step 1, randomly going over chain loops into same center, squeezing even more chain loops into the mix and filling out your flower until it is a fluffy pompom
Step 3: Once you have squeezed as many chain 4 loops as possible into the center of your flower, chain 8 and repeat the process a few more times, single crocheting into the center to create a few longer petals on your pompom
Finish off. Leave loose ends to be wrapped in floral tape.
Step 4: Tug and pull on all chain loops to fluff out flower and shape it.
Step 5: Take 4 or 5 pieces of white pipe cleaner and poke through center of flower to make a stem. Twist tops so they make white specks throughout the flower.
Step 6: Tightly wrap all pipe cleaner together in floral tape to make stem.
