Babiana Flower

You Will Need
Size 10 (red and deep blue or purple) doily thread
1 steel crochet hook – different sizes will provide for different sized flowers
1 red piece of pipe cleaner and 2 green pieces of pipe cleaner
Using red doily thread
Step 1:  Chain 2, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook; chain 3 (counts as 1st dc); make one more double crochet in same place, chain 1
Step 2:  Make 2 double crochet + chain 1 (5 more times); join with slip stitch to top chain of 1st double crochet
Step 3:  Slip stitch in next double crochet and in chain 1 space; chain 1 in same place
Step 4:  Chain 3, single crochet in chain 1 space
[Repeat Step 4 around, ending with a slip stitch to 1st single crochet in round.]
Step 5:  Slip stitch into next chain 3 space; chain 3 (counts as 1st dc), make 2 more double crochet in same place; make 1 pineapple stitch, followed by 3 double crochet in same place
Step 6:  Make {3 dc + 1 pineapple stitch + 3 dc} in each chain e space around; join with slip stitch to top chain of 1st double crochet in round
Step 7:  Chain 1, single crochet in same place; single crochet in each stitch around, ending with a slip stitch to 1st sc in round
Step 8:  Chain 1, single crochet in same place
Step 9:  Chain 7, single crochet in 7th stitch from hook
[Repeat Step 9 around, ending with chain 7 and joining with a slip stitch to 1st single crochet in round]


Finish off red thread.
Step 10:  Join blue or purple doily thread to any chain 7 space; chain 1, single crochet in same place; make {1 hdc + 2 dc + 3 tr + 2 quad tr + (chain 2 with picot in 2nd chain from hook) + 2 quadtriple + 3 tr + 2 dc + 1 hdc + 1 sc} in same space – 1 petal made
Step 11:  make {1 hdc + 2 dc + 3 tr + 2 quad tr + (chain 2 with picot in 2nd chain from hook) + 2 quadtriple + 3 tr + 2 dc + 1 hdc + 1 sc} in next chain 7 space and in each chain 7 space around; join with slip stitch to 1st sc in round.


Finish off. Weave in loose ends.
Assembly
Step 1:  Insert red pipe cleaner from underside through center chain 1 space, then over center and back through opposite chain 1 space
Step 2:  Take short end of pipe cleaner and weave it back over again, leaving a small nodule to make center of flower


Step 3:  Attach green pipe cleaner over red pipe cleaner, on underside of flower and spiral it down around red pipe cleaner, covering red pipe cleaner completely for stem. 


Trim ends of pipe cleaner.
