I wanted to show you how easy it is to use different sized hooks and yarns, to make lots of wonderful stars today. Yesterday, I used a fairly common size hook I and 4-ply cotton yarn to make the Easy Crochet Star Motif 120312. Today, I’m using chenille yarn and a size N crochet hook. As you can see, the results are intriguingly different.
Crochet Star Motif 120412 Instructions
Step 1: Chain 4; make ring by slip stitching into 1st chain
Step 2: Chain 3 (counts as 1st double crochet); make 14 more dc in center of ring; join by slip stitching in top chain of 1st dc
Step 3: Chain 3; triple crochet decrease over next 2 dc’s:
Step 1: Yarn over twice
Step 2: Insert hook in 1st stitch or space indicated
Step 3: Yarn over, draw up a loop
Step 4: Yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook (twice)
[Repeat Steps 1 – 4 one more time, only in Step 2, insert hook in 2nd stitch or space indicated]
Step 5: Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook
Step 4: Make picot >>> chain 3, slip stitch into 1st chain
Step 5: Chain 3; slip stitch into next double crochet at center of star
Repeat Steps 3 – 5, four more times. Finish off. Weave in loose ends.
