HDC and SC Open Ridge Stitch Rows

HDC and SC Open Ridge Stitch Rows can be used as panels for mile-a-minute afghans. You can make squares (instead of granny squares) which can be used for all sorts of things. It’s a great all-over pattern for a purse, sweater or hat too.

Step 1:  Make an even number of chain stitches for your foundation
Step 2:  Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across

Step 3:  Chain 1, turn
Step 4:  Half double crochet in 3rd stitch from hook, then cross over and hdc in 2nd stitch from hook

Step 5:  Skip next stitch, hdc in next stitch
Step 6:  Half double crochet in skipped stitch in Step 5
[Repeat Steps 5 and 6 across row]

Step 7:  Chain 1, turn, single crochet in back loop only of 2nd hdc and each hdc across row

Repeat Steps 2 – 7 for pattern.
Note:  Keep your rows even. Last stitch of each row will be made in turning chain.
Until next time, I wish you every joy and lots of success with all of your crochet projects.
