Loop Stitch

The loop crochet stitch is a fun stitch to make that can be used for making stuffed animals, adding playful details on intriguing fashions and creating fancy fringe for anything you need. If you’re familiar with knitting and casting loops on knitting needles, the loop stitch will be a breeze to learn. If you’re not, these instructions should make it easier for you.

Foundation Row: Any number of chain +1 chain; single crochet across chain

Step 1: Chain 1, turn; working on back side of pattern, yarn over and insert hook into desired stitch

Step 2: Let go of the yarn you are holding. Wrap the yarn around your finger – just like casting on in knitting. At this point, I like to pull my loop close to the fabric.

[Make your loops as short or as long as you’d like during this step.]

Step 3: Yarn over, draw up a loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook

{Repeat Steps 1 – 3 across row; chain 1, single crochet on alternating rows}
