The eyelet all over crochet pattern uses basic stitches, combined in an easy pattern that creates an all-over crochet fabric perfect for using in garments, lacing ribbon through or making a wonderfully, warm and cozy afghan. This pattern is an original design I created and tested myself. It works up quickly and can be used with lots of different yarns, making it easy for you to make all sorts of things with this charming, yet simple, crochet pattern.

Foundation Row: Make chain with a multiple of 5 + 1 chains

Step 1: Half double crochet (hdc) in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across, turn

Step 2: Chain 2 (counts as first half double crochet, now and throughout pattern), hdc in first stitch, Make a [Double Crochet V stitch (DCV) – dc, chain 2, dc] in next stitch, hdc in each of next 2 stitches

Step 3: Hdc in next 2 stitches, DCV in next stitch, hdc in next 2 stitches

{Repeat Step 3 across row, turn}

Step 4: Chain 2, hdc in next hdc, chain 1, make 1 single crochet in next chain 2 space (center of DCV stitch), chain 1

Step 5: Hdc in next 4 hdc’s, chain 1, single crochet in next chain 2 space, chain 1

{Repeat Step 5 across row, ending with 1 hdc in last hdc and 1 hdc in top of turning chain; turn}

Step 6: Chain 2, hdc in next stitch, DCV in next single crochet

Step 7: Hdc in next 4 hdc’s, DCV in next single crochet

{Repeat Step 7 across row, ending with 1 hdc in last hdc and 1 hdc in top of turning chain.}

Repeat Steps 4 – 7 for pattern, turning at end of each row and beginning with chain 2, which counts as 1st half double crochet in each row.
